Langworthy Moving Congressional Office From Corning to Elmira in Major Southern Tier Shift

Staff Report / May 28, 2026

Local residents seeking assistance from Congressman Nick Langworthy will soon need to travel to Elmira instead of Corning following the announcement that the congressman’s Southern Tier district office is being relocated. The move will shift the office serving New York’s 23rd Congressional District from Corning to Chemung County.

According to Representative Nick Langworthy, the district office currently located in Corning will close and operations will move to a new office space in downtown Elmira. The congressman’s office said the relocation is intended to improve accessibility for constituents throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes portions of the district.

Langworthy’s district covers a large geographic area across western and southern New York, including Steuben, Chemung, Schuyler, Yates, Allegany, and several other counties. Congressional district offices typically assist residents with federal agencies, veterans services, passports, Social Security issues, immigration matters, and other constituent concerns.

The move represents a notable shift for Corning, which has hosted a congressional district office serving the region for years under multiple representatives. Elmira, one of the Southern Tier’s largest population centers, already serves as a regional hub for government services, healthcare, and transportation connections.

No exact timeline for the transition was immediately announced, though officials indicated the move is expected to occur in the coming weeks. Constituents currently receiving assistance through the Corning office are expected to continue receiving support during the relocation process.
