“Air Bnb’s” would be capped at 100, fees to increase
By Andrew Harris
The vacation market on Keuka Lake is one of the hottest in the world. Families visit from all over the world, nearly year round, but certainly the peak is the summer and fall seasons.
The rates for Keuka Lake prime properties with a lake view(not on the lake) for a small family are renting for $3000/week, much more on the lake, if you can find one.
In the Town of Urbana, home of famous Bully Hill Vineyards, an economic reality has set in: Existing family homes are being converted into short term rentals, unavailable as housing for the average family.
Like many vacation towns, the Town of Urbana will counter this reality with a cap on the number of short-term rentals allowed a permit in the town at 100. The local law has been drafted and this public hearing was announced on May 21st for Tuesday June 16th at 630pm in the Urbana Town Hall
