Residents of Penn Yan are invited to attend two significant public hearings tonight (Tuesday 12/17/24) at 6 p.m. in Room 202 of the Penn Yan Village Hall.
The first hearing will address a proposed resolution for the village to seek Community Development Block Grant funding from the New York State Office of Community Renewal. The grant would support renovation efforts for the Penn Yan Diner, a beloved Elm Street institution that has remained closed since a devastating fire last May.
The second hearing focuses on the potential annexation of 72 acres of land currently situated in the town of Milo along Old Route 14A. The property, owned by the Finger Lakes Economic Development Center, is being considered for a mixed-use development that would include affordable housing options.
Both topics have drawn community interest, with the diner renovation representing a chance to restore a local landmark and the annexation posing implications for housing and growth in the village.
Community members are encouraged to attend and voice their opinions on these matters.
