A Pulteney woman faces attempted murder charges following a stabbing that seriously injured a male victim.

A Pulteney woman has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident that left a man seriously injured, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
Annika M. Szathmary, 25, of Cross Street, was arrested on May 3 after deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing in the Town of Pulteney. Authorities allege that Szathmary stabbed a male victim with a knife, causing serious physical injury and intending to kill him. She has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree, a class B felony.
The victim was initially transported to a local medical facility and later transferred to a trauma center, where he remains hospitalized. His identity and current condition have not been disclosed.
Following her arrest, Szathmary was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and is being held without bail.

The Sheriff’s Office Evidence Recovery Team and Criminal Investigations Unit executed three search warrants during the investigation, leading to the recovery of the alleged weapon used in the stabbing.
According to booking records, Szathmary was taken into custody on May 3 at 4:23 PM. She is described as a white female, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
The case remains under investigation, and further details have not been released by authorities.
