The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office is commemorating one year of Emilee’s Challenge Trailer, a moving and immersive mobile exhibit designed to educate the public—especially young drivers—about the devastating consequences of distracted, impaired, and intoxicated driving.
The trailer, introduced in 2024, honors the memory of Emilee Rawleigh, a 21-year-old from Steuben County whose life was tragically cut short in a preventable crash in 2019. Since its launch, the exhibit has reached an estimated 3,000 people at schools, community events, and safety demonstrations throughout the region.
Inside the trailer, visitors experience firsthand the sobering reality of traffic fatalities through real crash scene reconstructions and visual storytelling. The goal: to prompt reflection and better decision-making when it comes to driving under the influence or while distracted.
The initiative is part of the broader Emilee’s Challenge campaign, led by Emilee’s mother, Kim Clark. Clark continues to share her daughter’s story as part of the trailer’s programming, delivering a powerful and personal message that underscores the real-life stakes of risky driving behavior.
“This trailer doesn’t just show statistics—it shows what’s left behind,” said Sheriff Jim Allard. “It’s a reminder that every choice behind the wheel has consequences.”
Emilee’s Challenge Trailer will continue touring events across Steuben County this summer, building on its mission to inspire safer roads and honor a life gone too soon.
